The disused swimming pool overlooking North Bay has long been regarded as an eyesore by some. Others have fond memories of times spent there, making friends and enjoying swimming. Local resident 101 year old Nora Gee used to swim regularly throughout the 1980s and 90s, and achieved her 150 mile certificate in 1992, at the age of 72 years. As well as attending the older peoples swimming sessions, Nora focussed her efforts on a series of one mile swims to raise money for local charities, and was well known to staff at the pool at the time.
A lifelong Labour supporter, Nora is keen to see ‘her’ old pool replaced by something which will benefit our local communities. What do you think the land would best be used for?
