This news from Cllr Tony Randerson, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, and Labour councillor for Eastfield ward:
At present and for the foreseeable future councillors have been asked to stay away from the Town Hall. There will be no face-to-face meetings, unless absolutely necessary. Cabinet members are communicating by telephone conferencing. We have good working relationships with our Independent Cabinet Members and are all working towards the same goal.
The situation is very flux and is being dealt with on a day-to-day basis. We are taking and abiding by Government advice in order to stem this virus as much as possible. The Spa has closed, events have been cancelled and the National Armed Forces Day postponed.
I have suspended my street surgeries in Eastfield. Work carries on as normal with regard to councillors’ case work, albeit that face-to-face meeting with residents will take place only if absolutely necessary. Please contact councillors by email or phone.
All council officers who are able to are working from home, and will continue to do so until further notice.
It is a very difficult situation for all concerned and we will be attempting to ensure that front line services are delivered unaffected for as long as possible. However this will clearly depend on staffing issues going forward. For specific help, see the SBC website page Coronavirus advice and information.
I wish all members to abide by advice already highlighted in the media, and to keep themselves safe and well. We will get through this with everyone’s cooperation.
"We will get through this with everyone's co-operation." Cllr Tony Randerson - portfolio holder for neighbourhoods
