John said: “I love living in North Yorkshire and in particular Scarborough. Its rugged coastline and our wonderful National Parks provide a stunning backdrop in which to live work and play. However, there are far too many people living in our beautiful county who are unable to appreciate the things many of us take for granted.
Too many people living in Scarborough and Whitby are disproportionally affected by the cost-of-living crisis, low wages, high levels of child poverty and debt, inadequate and insufficient housing and poor transport links; peoples’; focus is on supporting themselves and their families.
However, It doesn’t have to be like this. People who work hard for themselves and their families should be able to afford the everyday things they enjoy: a comfortable home, a holiday, a meal out. Everyone should be able to go about their lives feeling safe, secure, and
I truly believe there is room for optimism in the political agenda ahead. Labour’s manifesto offers a vision of hope for a fairer, greener more prosperous society for us all”, John added.
