Since being elected I have attended 4 weeks’ intensive training with all the information on how the council runs. I am on the Planning and Development Committee and the Standards Committee. I am also on an outside body, the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Coastal Forum.
I feel very much my involvement in the climate emergency movement will allow me to voice concerns at a local level and I will do everything possible to encourage the council towards a greener borough. We need to have a plan in place so we can make gradual changes, but starting now and not when it’s too late.
It’s early days for me but I would certainly like to see more recycling facilities on the beach, especially on Armed Forces Day. The recent mess was abysmal and we must learn how to address this – it’s not insurmountable.
I am finding out more about the Eastfield community. A recent visit to the skills village proved both enlightening and heartwarming – I was so impressed by the continuing good work that goes on there. I attended the Open Arms annual meeting, my offer to pick up food bank donations from Proudfoots was gratefully received and I’m more than happy to be able to help.
I’m attending the Eastfield PACT meetings and look forward to working with the Eastfield councillors on the regeneration scheme.
